If we had to guess, the title to this post got your attention. Yes, we are fitness and food fanatics, but we are also a few girls who love chocolate. If you don’t love chocolate, we don’t understand you as a human being. You can stop reading now if that’s the case. Kidding.
Considering Valentine’s Day is coming up this weekend, we thought we would enlighten you with some delicious “healthier-ish” chocolate recipes. Feel free to whip up a batch, share them with your Valentine, Galentine or … eating them in bed alone while watching “Love Actually” is completely acceptable, too. This is a judgement free zone, we promise.
Giving any of these snacks will be better than the blow up boyfriend P got from my parents one year, that was missing one leg…. just some food for thought.
POPSUGAR has a bunch of delicious recipes over on their website. Here are a few of our favorites from that list & then some…
A girl still has to get her greens in while indulging, check out these Zucchini Brownies. They look so good, and fudgy, and… dangerous. Something about baking with Zucchini makes things so moist (does anyone else hate that word)?
We’re a HUGE fan of nuts and chocolate together, but then throw some coconut in there? Sold. These Paleo Dark Chocolate Nut Clusters are everything.
We can’t promise these will taste good, or even look this good. P made these Paleo Coconut Flour Brownies once, and her father proceeded to load it up with ice cream, hot fudge and whipped cream….. Paleo is supposed to be good for you though, Dad – you’re defeating the purpose! Needless to say, I was insulted but totally understood. I’m going to try and make these again and hope they turn out better than before.
These are a personal favorite of P’s, but they never seem to look this beautiful. P will forever be a #basic girl so these pumpkin chocolate chip cookies are right up her ally.
W mentioned Sarah Wilson in our roundup of go-to recipes, the Chocolate Nut Butter Cups are a perfect place to start – the perfect pairing of your favorite nut butter and chocolate – a match made in heaven if you ask us!
Perfectly themed for Valentine’s day, Chocolate Fudge Red Velvet is this month’s Healthy Bite flavor from Lindsey (Cotter Crunch) – a great excuse to try out superfood goji berry powder. If goji isn’t your thing – you can can find your pick among the many chocolate flavors.
Everyone knows that licking the bowl/spoon of the batter bowl is just as good, if not better than the cookies/brownies that it makes. So why not go just straight for the good stuff, with a chocolate brownie batter dip recipe from queen of making chocolate healthier (it’s in her blog name after all!), Chocolate Covered Katie.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Lovies! Spread love to everyone you see – friends, family, strangers (not the creepy ones) & don’t forget, yourself.
Enjoy your weekend 🙂
